Posted on: July 13, 2022[ARCHIVED] Traffic Safety: HVE (high visibility enforcement) for motorcycles
Summer weather has arrived and our county roads continue to deliver amazing scenic views.
The month of July includes a period of HVE (high visibility enforcement) for motorcycle safety.
Historically the months of July, August, and September account for nearly half of Washington State’s fatality motorcycle crashes.
The Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Yakima/Klickitat Traffic Safety Task Force and the Washington State Traffic Safety Commission,
will be focusing on motorcycle safety. This includes slowing down speeds, avoiding risky behaviors, and to ride while sober.
We ask that you join us in our efforts and review the following recommendations when riding. 🏍🏍
…..slow down
…..focus on the roadway and possible hazards
…..pull off the roadway safely to enjoy the scenic views
…..ride sober
…..ride with a partner
Sadly the county has seen injuries from motorcycle crashes in the last weeks.
Yesterday the Sheriff’s Office, Bickleton Fire-County District #2, Klickitat County EMS, and Life Flight Network, responded to a one motorcycle crash near milepost 23 on the Bickleton Highway.
The rider received care from our Fire, EMS, and Life Flight professionals. We wish the rider a speedy and complete recovery from their injuries.
Our hats off to our amazing partners for their prompt and professional response to this life threatening event.
