Proclamation
National Volunteer Week
April 23 - 29, 2017
WHEREAS, Klickitat County is rich in beauty, possibilities and history, our greatest resource is our people; and
WHEREAS, residents voluntarily share their skills by connecting with local service organizations and in so doing, strengthen the fabric of our community; and
WHEREAS, volunteers meet needs in their communities by giving their time and talents supporting literacy, education, health and human services, faith communities, charities, economic development, environmental protection, public safety and disaster preparedness; and
WHEREAS, Klickitat County recognizes the vital role of volunteers who serve on our boards, commissions, task forces and committees; and
WHEREAS, through volunteering, ordinary people can make extraordinary impacts by being a source of comfort and resilience, building ladders of opportunity for all people and making sacrifices to lift up those around them or far away.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Klickitat County Board of Commissioners proclaim April 23 through 29, 2017 as National Volunteer Week in Klickitat County. In so doing, we extend our appreciation to volunteers countywide who give new life to the values we hold dear as Americans and help us become more compassionate, engaged citizens.
