NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING IN THE MATTER of amending Klickitat County Code Chapter 9.15 of the Klickitat County Code by amending Section 9.15.030 regarding the assessment of penalties for violations of the County’s public disturbance noise ordinance: WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners is charged to protect the peace and safety of the people of this county in a fair and equitable manner; and WHEREAS, the history of enforcement actions has shown difficulty enforcing the public disturbance noise ordinance as a criminal offense and in order to conserve the resources of law enforcement, the courts and the prosecutor’s office; and WHEREAS, it is proposed that Klickitat County Code Section 9.15.030 be amended to make initial violations of the noise ordinance charged as civil infractions under Klickitat County Code Chapter 1.20, and any violation after the assessment of a Class 1 infraction punishable as a misdemeanor subject to a fine of up to $1,000.00 and up to 90 days incarceration. Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in the Board of County Commissioners Chambers located at 205 South Columbus, Room 101, Goldendale, Washington at the hour of 1:30 PM for the purpose of considering this proposed amendment to Klickitat County Code Chapter 9.15. At said hearing, any interested taxpayer may appear and be heard for or against said proposed amendment to Klickitat County Code Chapter 9.15, Section 9.15.030.
