Klickitat County offers great winter recreation opportunities. It provides a launching point to Mount Hood with its popular developed ski areas, as well as to the more primitive terrain of Mount Adams. Trout Lake, in the northwest corner of the county, offers access to the Mount Adams Recreation Area and snow-park areas tailored for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Many of the county's backroad areas offer excellent cross-country skiing, telemarking, and snowmobiling locations.
