Klickitat County Health Department is responsible for surveillance and investigation of notifiable conditions within our county. Washington Administrative Code 246-101 requires the Health Department to collect, analyze, and disseminate information regarding communicable diseases. The information collected enables us to act quickly during disease investigations to prevent the spread of diseases, and it also paints a picture of disease trends. Unfortunately, reported cases only represent a fraction of the actual cases occurring.

In Washington State; health care providers, health care facilities, laboratories, veterinarians, food service establishments, child care facilities, and schools are legally required to notify public health authorities of suspected or confirmed cases of selected diseases and conditions; these diseases and conditions are referred to as notifiable conditions
